Jersey's Central Market to open on Thursday afternoons

Jersey's Central Market will open on a Thursday afternoon for the first time.

The 19th Century market usually closes early on Thursday afternoons to allow staff to have a break.

But from this week, it will stay open until 17:30 GMT on the Thursdays up to Christmas.

Town centre manager Richard MacKenzie said it was a trial for the Christmas period but if there was enough support for it, they may review opening it on Thursday afternoons.

He said the market was also to open later in the week before Christmas.

From Monday, 19 to Friday, 23 December, the Central Market in Halkett Place and the Fish Market in Beresford Street will be open until 18:30 GMT.

a fabulous market..had the best steak baguette i have had in a long time at a little stall in there today ..the price £2.95 and a free cup of coffee for me and a tea for my friend ..bargain eh xx
