Stabbing by the Royal Yacht
A man is in intensive care after being stabbed in St Helier.
A fifty two year old suffered a stab wound to the stomach
He is in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
A fifty eight year old has been charged with attempted murder and carrying an offensive weapon.
Lets hope they make an example....

Re: Stabbing by the Royal Yacht
Interesting to note that this was not a 'youth crime' and that knife carrying in general really has taken hold of the streets!
I quite agree GD, the justice system needs to be seen to be heavily punishing not only people who commit these offences but also those who are even found to be carrying a weapon.
There are plans in the UK to punish those carrying weapons more severely which I think is absolutely right.
I cannot think of a single reason why someone carrying a weapon was not 'intending' to use it (given the right circumstances). Therefore if the intent is there then they should be prosecuted.
And before the replies come regarding people who use knives as part of their employment etc. - i.e fishermen, chefs, then I fully understand that there are legitimate reasons and occasions when this may not be the case, but I am referring to instances around town centres etc.
