Celeb gardener booked

Celebrity gardener Diarmuid Gavin is coming to Guernsey. He will be in the island next month for Floral Guernsey's Spring Festival Week.

The series of events, which runs from Saturday 14 April, are aimed at gardeners, from novices to experts.

The week will culminate in a gala dinner at The Farmhouse and a talk by Diarmuid on 'inspiring gardens from around the world'.

Other events include an evening lecture from 'the queen of vegetables' Joy Larkcom, a guided walk around Herm's award-winning gardens, and family events at local garden centres aimed at getting the next generation of gardeners started.

It is being sponsored by Resolution Limited whose local director Fergus Dunlop is looking forward to having such a high profile gardener in the island.

The Spring Festival Week, and the summer Britain in Bloom competition, are integral to Guernsey's message, even for those of us who are not green fingered.
