More Guernsey States employees earn £70k
The number of senior States of Guernsey employees - those earning more than £70,000 a year - increased during 2011, according to the States accounts.
An extra 21 received the wage, making a total of 313.
A spokesman for the Treasury and Resources Department said: "This change has arisen due to pay awards in 2011."
The accounts show a reduction of 42 full-time equivalents States posts, however the overall wage bill rose by nearly £6m.
The department refused to discuss the role of the island's highest paid civil servant, whose wage broken the £250,000 barrier for the first time last year.
