First meeting of 2013 for Alderney's States
Alderney's five new States members- sworn in by the president just before Christmas - will be attending their first full states meeting today.
Amongst the first things on their agenda will be a vote on whether or not to approve spending £700,000 on rebuilding the stone revetment on the eastern side of the Commercial Quay. £12 million has already been spent on the quay - £3 million more than planned - but now repairs need to be carried out on loss of some of the revetment's armour stones.
They will also vote on new chairmen and members for the Policy Committee, General Services Committee and a new committee, the business Development, Tourism and Marketing Committee.
Alderney's committee structure underwent a shake up following the elections in November, and part of the proposals see the General Services Committee reduced to three members from six. The old Policy and Finance Committee was split into a Finance Committee and a Policy Committee, the latter consisting of a chairman and the chairmen of the other committees
