Calls to lower number of licences for foreign workers
A Guernsey politician is criticising housing officials for the number of licences they have approved for foreign workers to come to the island.
There are roughly 1,200 people in the island now on short-term licences.
Deputy De Lisle says with more islanders losing their jobs, fewer licences should be handed out.
Housing deny it is their job to manage population and migration levels.
But Deputy De Lisle says they have the mandate and the power to do it.
"We've all got to take responsibility with respect to the number of people who are out there, without work as a result of these changing circumstances, and we need to be doing something also about restricting the number of licences that are given by the housing department

its time guernsey stopped allowing incoming workers to the island..it is unfair to true guernsey people who cannot go and work in eu countires (except uk) without a work permit .
