Vandalism on the up? Empty Vandalism on the up?

VANDALS have damaged a States Works tractor, leaving the department to foot the £2,000 bill for repairs.

The vehicle could be written-off if its value is less than the cost of work needed.

The red Massey-Ferguson tractor was being used at the former Belgrave Vinery site in St Sampson’s, when vandals wrecked the vehicle.

Sometime between 6.30pm on Friday 19 and 1pm on Tuesday 23 June stones were thrown at the tractor, smashing every window and all the lights.

The hydraulics were also damaged and the tyres slashed.

Senior manager technical Nick Nicolle said the incident was the latest in a long line of events which had damaged States Works equipment.

‘There were years of life left in the tyres and they have been destroyed within five minutes,’ he said.

‘Although the tractor is not in pristine condition, it did the job.

‘It’s a working tractor, and it’s been completely damaged. (from thisisguernsey)

A lesson needs to be taught to these mindless idiots, if the are caught
