The pass rate at A to E was a creditable 99.6% compared with the UK pass rate of 97.5%. The percentage of students achieving a grade A or B was 57.1%, 5.1% higher than the U.K.

Jim Westwater, Head of Planning and Projects for Jersey's Education, Sport and Culture, said he was delighted to see yet another set of excellent results from the Island schools:

“The figures released this morning indicate again that we are continuing to achieve high standards. The A-level results are one of the main benchmarks against which the effectiveness of an Education Service is judged; these results show us that our service can be compared with the best anywhere”.

The Director of Education, Sport and Culture, Mario Lundy, said he was very pleased to see such good results:

"All involved in the education of young people: parents, staff and the students themselves should be very proud of their achievements. These results represent a tremendous dividend on the investment that the community makes in education”. (from JEP)

Guernsey's results were also above the UK, but the question we must ask is

Does getting an "A" level and then going to University automatically get you a job today?

No, times have changed...

What do you think of the "A" level exams, with so many passing, does it need to be looked at, and reviewed, are too many pupils getting the wrong idea "A" level - University - Top Job

I await your comments....

Apart from some profesions needing a degree to enter, lawyers, doctors, teachers etc, I feel that they only delay entry into the job market. You have to also question how many students gain A grades in some less academic subjects. Is an A grade in photograpy comparable to one in Physics?!!
