Islanders are being urged to have a say about the future of local education.

The whole system is currently under government review and this week the spotlight falls on early years and primary education.

A public consultation meeting takes place on Tuesday (22 Nov) at 6.45pm at the Jersey College for Girls. Fiona Vacher, Director of the Jersey Child Care Trust, will chair the evening.

The meeting will start with a presentation on early years and nursery education by Dr Cathy Hamer, a child development specialist. Later there will be a talk on primary education by school adviser Julia Lydford.

Anyone wanting to attend is asked to email futureofeducation@gov.je or call the education department to register for a place.

The following week, the consultation will be about secondary education and is being held on Tuesday 29 November at Le Rocquier School.

The deadline for the consultation on the future of education is 2 December. Copies of the discussion paper 'Learning For Tomorrow's World' are available online at www.gov.je/consult .
