Guernsey Gas prices to rise by 5%

Gas prices in Guernsey will rise from 10 May, it has been announced by Guernsey Gas and Kosangas.

John Davies, commercial director, said the decision had been forced on them by global increases in wholesale prices.

He said: "Propane prices are forecast to stay at these high levels for the foreseeable future."

The company said an increase of 0.58p per unit, equivalent to 4.04p per litre and 8.06p per kg, is expected to equal a 5% rise for domestic customers.

It said this would be an increase of about 19p per day for the typical domestic heating customer.

The cost of gas in Jersey is going up next week.

The 5% rise will add around £70 to the annual cost of heating a house.

Prices will be increased by 0.58p a unit with effect from 10 May.
