Population shift worries planners Empty Population shift worries planners

Jersey is having to make an early reshuffle of its long-term plans because they've fallen out of date more quickly than expected.

The ten-year Island Plan approved in 2002 now falls short because of the rapidly changing nature of the population.

Planning Minister Freddie Cohen is attempting to address issues like how to meet the increasing demand for housing without damaging the green zones and what sort of development should be allowed for tourism and agriculture to flourish.

Senator Cohen wants to hear from as many people as possible following publication of a paper which sets options for the future. But how will he get the feedback necessary to make such critical decisions. (from CIOnline)
