Alderney By-Election Date Set

The 11th of October will see Alderney residents going to the polls to elect a
new States Member.

The date was decided upon at yesterday's Alderney States Meeting.

Members agreed to hold the next election for a replacement to Richard Cox on the 11th of October.

The last one was scheduled for the 28th of June but no one stood.

This time the house decided to issue a job description to help encourage candidates to apply for the post.

States members also agreed to spend £350,000 from the Alderney Capital Account on updating the island's potable water catchment system.

It's hoped the investment will mean an end to the autumn water restrictions (from IslandFM)
