Alderney hustings date announced
Hustings ahead of Alderney’s States election will be held on November 23rd.
States President Sir Norman Browse will chair the Island Hall question and answer session from 7pm.
The subsequent poll, on November 27th, will see five people elected to the States, as half the island’s politicians face re-election every two years.
The election will bring major changes, as four of the sitting members have either quit or pledged to stand down. Liz Bennett resigned from the States in July, while Richard Willmott, Colin Williams and Tony Llewellyn are not seeking re-election. Ian Tugby has yet to confirm whether he is standing.
Members of the electoral roll who wish to submit questions for the hustings should contact the President’s office in the first instance. Alternatively islanders should turn up on the night to quiz the candidates.
Several locals have already suggested they will stand, including former States employee Ray Berry, fisherman Ray Gaudion and Ken Hampton. (from CTV)
