Anonymous sender attempts Tax Hoax

Someone in Guernsey's trying to fool islanders into thinking their States want to sneak in new taxes.

A letter's been sent to all media containing what looks like a confidential Commerce and Employment document.

But the department has confirmed to Island FM it is a hoax.

The forged document suggests a new road tax on your second vehicle would be introduced through the back door at the end of this month.

The sender, who hasn't included any details of his identity, claims to have found it on a public services vehicle.

In it, members are asked to 'push this past the post with the minimum of public discussion' and pass the vote 'without hindrance'.

But Commerce and Employment are assuring islanders the document is a hoax and road tax doesn't even fall under their mandate. (from Isle FM)

I can only think of one deputy who travels by public transport most of the time, and i very much doubt it has anything to do with him
