Island’s UK delegate attempts to get Taser ammo ban overturned

THE UK minister with responsibility for the Crown Dependencies is working to end a ban on exporting Taser ammunition to Guernsey.

Home Minister Geoff Mahy said he raised the issue with Lord McNally when he visited the island last year.

Guernsey Police first started using the weapons in 2006 but have been unable to buy replacement cartridges because the island is not on an approved list of arms traders.

‘We have limited replacement darts because we do have to have regular training, so we are running out,’ said Deputy Mahy
