Who Should Protect Tax-payers Property?
Over the school holidays a local primary school's play ground has been used by local teenagers as a 'hang-out'.
The result is thousands of pounds worth of damage to the equipment, most of which is less than a year old, and the danger posed by broken glass left strewn about the place. There is also the fact that the area and equipment will be out of use well into the new term for the young minds to benefit from, something I find it hard to put a value to.
The Police have been called on a number of occasions, but refuse to become involved as it's 'private' land, owned by a States Dept.
I would have thought that criminal damage and underage drinking would have interested them, but it seems they feel the chance of any action being taken against teenagers who feel/know they're 'untouchable' is next to nil.
So, if not the Police, who should be taking what action against these hoodlum scum? Have we really got to a point where there is nothing that can be done to protect ourselves as a society from these child criminals? Without action they will become more brazen until inevitably an accident (or deliberate action) results in death or serious injury; who will be held accountable then?
