state of the states speech
Deputy John Gollop has stated on Radio Guernsey that he was asked to put the idea to the states during conversations with the chief minister.Although he still feels it is a good idea although he feels that the speech has come too soon after the asked the question..He also feels we should have a Prime Minister and not a chief minister. All i can say is God help the people of Guernsey if this ever happens.

Re: state of the states speech
I have never heard anything like it a speech about how good i am and the assembly , the policy council, what we intend to do what we have done , what a load of c**p . There is no need for a i am the leader of the world speech (or should be LOL )get on with your jobs what you are paid to do instead of singing your own praises . You know how the saying goes "self praise is no praise at all".

Re: state of the states speech
I think all these deputies did not want him to do his "state of the states" speech because they dont want us all to know exactly what "state the states" are really in

Re: state of the states speech
we already know what is in the speech.it is the fact that this strutting peacock is trying to get more power that worries me.executive government by stealth is what he is trying to force upon the island.
he has been forced to drop the speech tomorrow.well done to matt and the other deputies who were against the speech happening.

Re: state of the states speech
Guernsey's chief minister will not be making a planned speech at the States on Wednesday after it was leaked.
Lyndon Trott had been due to make a State of the States speech, outlining future policy.
But the Policy Council has decided it is no longer necessary, after the speech was leaked to a newspaper.
The plan had faced opposition from more than 20 deputies who wrote to the chief minister saying he did not have the authority to guide States policy.
(from BBC News)
Ah what a shame could of done with another "Queens" speech..lol

Look on the bright side, if he had made a Xmas day speech at 3pm we could have watched it, because personally I always leave BBC when the Queen is on at 3pm and watch a comedy.
