3 people arrested after fraud at Mont Cuet

channelonline.tv has learned that three people have been arrested today (Tuesday) in connection with an investigation into fraud at Mont Cuet in Guernsey.

Police simultaneously arrested two Public Services Department staff and the director of a local refuse firm about serious financial irregularities at the tip.

channeonline.tv understands that the alleged fraud involved undercharging or failing to charge for waste entering the landfill site.

Officers are interviewing three men today (Tuesday). No one has been charged.

The Public Services Department has confirmed only that two of its staff have been arrested and are being questioned as part of this investigation.

The arrests follow a lengthy investigation carried out by officers from the Police Commercial Fraud Department.
