NSPCC Guernsey branch could close
|
Guernsey's branch of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) could close as the charity redevelops its services.
The NSPCC centre in St Peter Port will close within months if proposals go ahead, with the loss of 12 full and part-time workers.
Divisional director Peter Liver said it wants more staff in bigger population centres where there are more children.
He said it wants to complete all of its current work with island families.
The proposals are part of a review of the charity's strategy throughout the UK and Channel Islands.
Mr Liver said the society was still committed to protecting children in the Bailiwick. (from BBC)
It would be a shame to see this place close, I hope the petition they are starting works...
