guernsey waits for swine flu jab
GUERNSEY WAITS AS JERSEY AND UK START SWINE FLU VACCINES
A UK-wide vaccination programme against swine flu gets underway today….
Health workers and high-risk patients will be among the first to get
the jabs. In Jersey, the first phase of their vaccination programme got
underway yesterday. But here in Guernsey health officials say they will
start dishing out jabs within the next month (taken from sure website)
once again guernseys health board lets down the people of guernsey. as it is peeps are having to have the seasonal flu jab and then the swine flu jab when or if it arrives.

We have been through our winter flu's, as has Australia.
Swine flu has had very little effect on the general population.
You make your own decision, but the drug companies have made billions of dollars worth of this vaccine and they will do anything to get you to take it.

In the previous supposed flu pandemic, the vaccine killed more people than the flu.

Re: Flu Vaccines are they Safe?
Although of an age to be in the "at risk" group.I'll pass on both types.Especially the swine flu jab as those who went through the 50's epidemic are more than likely to have their own antibodies.

Re: Flu Vaccines are they Safe?
Thistle, I would be more worried about Yvette having it.
But, that is a decision only you can make.
AS Bug1 said, we are of the tender age to have immunity.
Finally age counts for something!!!

Re: Flu Vaccines are they Safe?
have finally got daughter booked in for her swine flu jab this friday evening.i had to phone the surgery to ask if she qualified.now the good bit.although i am daughters main/only carer i have been told that i may not get the jab.i am also asthmatic and had collapsed lungs 3 and a half years ago.the receptionist has told me i have to ask the doctor if i can have one as i would not receive it as a matter of course.something wrong here i think.especially as i know other surgeries are vaccinating main carers.

Re: Flu Vaccines are they Safe?
From what i have been told the Vaccine in Guernsey is not the same make as the one in Jersey , Jersey has the more expensive one ,the one they are using in the UK but apparently Guernsey opted for the cheaper version which some say is not as affective .
I don't know how true this is but it came from a good source .
Happy days !!

Re: Flu Vaccines are they Safe?
The perspective, as I see it, is that you get that many deaths at this time of the year - with ordinary flu - and the figures for swineflu against other causes worldwide barely makes the headlines....
300 DAYS
48,750,570 deaths worldwide (various causes)
8,118 deaths from Swine Flu
.......thanks KiwiG I wasn't panicking before - and now I will not give it another thought - despite the media trying to frighten people witless!!!!!

Death & Taxes both inevitable, even our own Director of Health says "Swine Flu is only a mild to moderate illness, for most people."
