Boat House Group Jersey expands
The Boat House Group continues to expand with the introduction of The Tree House. The traditional bar and Italian restaurant will be a focal point of activity in St Brelade taking over the site of the old Landmark Inn.
The group have taken the lease from The Liberation Group and transformed the original site. They have also spent months canvassing local opinion and have decided to revert the name of the traditional bar back to its original ‘La Marquanderie’.
The Tree House will be the first Italian restaurant for the group. This latest addition brings The Boat House Group’s portfolio to five businesses including: The Boat House, The Beach House, The Farm House, and The Grape House.
The team have worked tirelessly over the last year to bring the project to fruition and they can now launch the restaurant with it’s own bar and conservatory area. The restaurant’s focal point is an open plan kitchen where diners can see their food being prepared and enjoy the vibrant activity of a unique wood burning pizza oven. Diners will also be able to see a traditional chicken rotisserie in action where the most succulent chicken will be cooked to order.
Whilst the original physical structure of the building remains unchanged, the interiors have been completely renovated to create a unique restaurant and bar space. Furnishings and materials have been chosen to offer style and comfort and diners can enjoy a cosy and up market environment. There will also be further developments to improve the site throughout 2010 including renovation of the old bar and a multi-use function room.
The culinary philosophy of The Tree House will be to offer authentic Italian cuisine made from the finest ingredients sourced by the groups Catering Director, and former Michelin Starred chef, David Cameron. Staff have also been benefitting from the advice of a ‘pizza expert’ who has been flown in from the Algarve to train staff on the use of the traditional oven which will run at an amazing 495 degrees, twice as hot as a traditional oven.
The establishment will be run by General Manager Julie Panavo and she has ensured that no expense has been spared to make sure the new restaurant offers quality and authenticity. The restaurant will also continue to cater for families and attention has been given to offering a varied and delicious children’s menu.
The bar will stand out from the crowd with unique offerings such as Peroni on draft and the economical alternative of draft wine served by the carafe. These offerings will be accompanied by a new and exciting wine list. The bar itself is a bit of history as it has been made from the old beams of the building!
David Cameron, Catering Director, The Boat House Group, says:
‘We’ve spent a long time sourcing quality ingredients for The Tree House to offer a restaurant with real Italian flavour. We have worked with local suppliers to source ingredients from Italian suppliers in London and I have great confidence in our extensive menu. I’m very excited to be introducing our unique wood-burning pizza oven, which will cook the most delicious pizzas with a crispy base and heaps of toppings. We’ll be making our own pizza dough, offering a variety of specials including gluten-free pasta, cooking rotisserie chicken to order and topping off the experience by offering an extensive list of wines.’
Nigel Godfrey, Managing Director, The Boat House Group, says:
‘The Tree House concept is something totally new for The Boat House Group and we are excited to be introducing it in a fantastic setting in St Brelade's. We are also pleased to say that we have kept the original bar area that we know locals are fond of and we are bringing back its original name ‘La Marquanderie’. The restaurant is totally refurbished with a state of the art open plan kitchen and all new furnishings. The emphasis will be on friendly and efficient service and delicious authentic Italian food made from quality ingredients.’
