Noise and pollution fears at Forest site marked for industry
FOREST residents are against an area of land behind their homes being turned into an industrial site.
They are concerned about increased noise and pollution.
Independent planning inspector Jill Kingaby says the one-acre site close to Rue des Landes, next to the airport, should be redesignated.
If the States agrees next month, this site along with three others could soon be home to Fred-in-the-shed businesses. The site is currently occupied by glasshouses.
Ms Kingaby said she recognised concerns from residents that the change of use would lead to greater noise and dirt, as well as more traffic but determined the impact would be negligible.
Col Blondel, 85, has lived in Rue de la Planque for 38 years. Her garden backs onto the site and she can see the glasshouses from her kitchen window.
She is worried about what kind of businesses could be set up.(from thisisgurnsey)
Sounds like a case "not in my back garden, lets stick it all down the north of the Island"...
