New Ferry service for Alderney
A long-awaited ferry service has been launched for people in Alderney.
Island-based Alderney Shipping will allow passengers to travel on its freight vessel "Isis". The ship will offer sailings to Guernsey and Poole, in the UK.
Journeys to Guernsey will take 2.5 hours, while UK trips will take about six hours.
Passengers can expect to pay an inter-island one-way fare of £25, with a return £40. A single to the UK will cost £65, with a return £110.
Bruno Kay-Mouat, Alderney Shipping's managing director, says the service has been set up to offer islanders an alternative to flying.
The States of Alderney and local Chamber of Commerce have both welcomed the move.
