Ferry service disrupted
Ferry services between the islands and Weymouth are being disrupted this weekend because of an engine problem on Condor Express.
Work to rebuild one of the ferry's engines is taking longer than expected.
In April, a crack in the engine casing of one of the four engines on Condor Express was
discovered during routine maintenance. A programme of work to rebuild the engine
is nearing completion in Weymouth after a replacement casing was cast and fitted in Europe
This weekend the schedule has been revised and some passengers moved to alternative
sailings to minimise the delay in their arrival time at their destination. Condor Ferries has
been contacting affected passengers by telephone or SMS and has advised tour operators to
get in touch with their customers who may also have been booked to travel on these sailings.
Simon Edsall, Managing Director of Condor Ferries, apologised for the disruption. 'We recognise that this delay will cause some inconvenience to our passengers and have worked hard to minimise the impact on our customers travel plans'.
Passengers who have any concerns or questions are being advised to check the Condor Ferries
website, call the Central Reservations Team on 0845 6091026 or contact a port office.
