Things to do and events coming up in Guernsey
A few suggestions to help you plan the next few weeks...
Family fun
On 3 October St Andrew's parish is holding an Apple Day in the grounds of Blanchelande College. The day will feature a farmers market and the opportunity to get advice on growing apples alongside games for children and music and a lot more.
On Sunday 25 September its the annual Alzheimer's Memory Walk. The walk starts at Chouet at 1100 with shorter walks starting at the Cobo Nature Trail at 1200 and Saumarez Park at 1230. Following the walk there will be refreshments, children's games, raffle, music and entertainment.
Exhibitions and arts
While the house is closed for the winter you can still experience a glimpse into Hauteville House , the former home of Victor Hugo , at the Guernsey Museum in Candie Gardens in an exhibition of paintings of the houses interior by Guernsey artist Mark Cook that is on from 18 September until 31 December.

From 17 September the Greenhouse gallery in the Information Centre is staging an exhibition called Uncharted Island by several artists looking at mapping Guernsey.
Outdoor
From 25 September to the 3 October it is the Autumn Floral Festival with walks, open gardens, lectures and workshops on offer looking at various aspects of flowers and gardens around the island.

Every Sunday afternoon over the summer there is live music in Candie Gardens from a host of local performers from swing and big band to orchestral sounds.
Music
The Fermain Tavern re-opens on 25 September, following a major renovation with R&B guitar legend Wilko Johnson, Oxford's Dial F for Frankenstein, Alderney's Rawcuz Crowzz and Guernsey's own skiffle-punks The John Wesley Stone. As well as this there is an open evening for any local musicians wanting to get a look at the new look Tavern on Wednesday 22 September.

On 15 and 16 September Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra will be playing along with special guests vocalist Marc Almond of Soft Cell at Beau Sejour.
20-25 September is the Victor Hugo Music Festival which sees nightly concerts at St James Concert Hall alongside workshops and other events. This year's festival will feature performances from John Mark Ainsley, the Ebène String Quartet, and Nadja Zwiener. (from BBC)
