Sales tax 'thrown out' by States of Guernsey
A proposal to introduce a general sales tax in Guernsey has been rejected by the island's government.
Deputy Mike Hadley claimed a 2-3% sales tax on the price of everyday goods could generate £30m a year to help fill the island's financial black hole.
However, an overwhelming majority of deputies rejected the proposals.
In 2009 deputies approved a five-year strategy aimed at saving up to £70m through cut backs and the sharing of departments' resources. (from BBC)
So where are they going to find the money?

if they want to put tax on something and save a big bit of our environment .put a tax on disposable nappies ,these fill the tip up and have no value to our environment at all .
they could earn a huge revenue from this tax.

What's more, it's those rich guys that hold the States to ransom by saying that they'll leave if they have to pay a few percent more.

Fast Robert, money and love do not go together. Do you ever see the sexy 22 year old marrying the dustman, no, but they do marry the ancient mega millionaire, for love of course.
