Consumer protection at last?
Economic Development Minister Alan Maclean
MINISTERS this morning announced the first major step towards creating a new consumer law to protect Islanders from rogue and unfair traders.
In a short statement, the Economic Development Minister said that he wanted to hear Islanders’ views about giving ordinary people legal protection from dishonest or unscrupulous shops and businesses.
Senator Alan Maclean said that a new law would aim to prevent misleading pricing, false description of goods and services, misleading advertising, high pressure selling techniques and prize scams. (from JEP)
