Jersey Chefs retain Michelin stars Empty Jersey Chefs retain Michelin stars

Two Jersey restaurants have retained their Michelin stars. Wth only 143 stars in the whole of Great Britain and Ireland - it's an elite club.

This year marks 100 years of the Michelin Guide - the original book was published to help touring motorists find the best restaurants on their travels.

Most chefs regard Michelin atars as the ultimate accolade, and in Jersey there are two men who hold them. Mark Jordan at Ocean Restaurant has been awarded his star five years in succession and Shaun Rankin at Bohemia has kept his for seven years.

There are several levels of the award:

1 star signifies a very good restaurant
2 stars mean excellent cooking worth a detour
3 stars signify exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey.

The inspectors only judge the food and they look at five areas: the quality of ingredients; the skill in preparing them and in combining flavours; the level of creativity; consistency of culinary standards and value for money.

Mark and Shaun are the only Channel Island chefs to have the coveted awards. (from CTV)
