Neighbours’ garden fall out Empty Neighbours’ garden fall out

Post by GD Sat 30 Jul 2011, 11:41 am

NEIGHBOURS at La Vrangue Estate have fallen out over the state of one of the gardens.

Mike Ogier, 65, who has lived there for 30 years, is proud of his. But he is annoyed that neighbour Claire Ellis has allowed hers to become scruffy since moving in last year.

He said her patch had become an overgrown mass of weeds, with bindweed growing over old bicycles, bin bags of rubbish and an old mattress slumped outside the front door.

Ms Ellis lives with her 12-year-old son and eight-year-old daughter. She wanted a small garden for her children, but agreed hers was too much for her to handle. She said the States needed to do more to help with gardening and rubbish collection.

‘If I get help I can do it,’ she said. ‘I do work on it, but it just grows back.’ (from GEP)

Have any of you asked if there is a reason this woman cant do her garden. Maybe she is disabled or her child is disabled and needs all her attention.

I dont know this woman, never even heard of her until I saw her name here. But I know from personel experience that people can be quick to judge.

I had the same thing happen to me a few weeks ago here in Australia. A neighbour complained that my grass was too long. I had a visit from the local council who on realising that I had had a serious accident and was'nt just being "lazy" as you people have put it, then sent someone around to do it for me free of charge. They are now looking at putting something more permanant in place as it doe'snt look like i'll ever be able to do any gardening again. (It's hard with a broken back)

As I said I've never met this woman, but please give her the benefit of the doubt.

Surely these people bring it upon themselves by their own actions, or in this case inaction.

And well done Mike, at 65 you're doing a great job. It really is nice to see a well kept garden and it is no mean feat to maintain one, loads of hours but it is pleasing to all walk passed.

And now the sting, if the next door garden is such a dump how about some help from the neighbours to get it on the way. Once it is up and running the owner can keep it tidy. Rubbish may be down to the states but garden is down to the owner.

Where i live we have much much worse than that .some of the garden are a stinking tip
i blame housing ,it tell us on our tenancy agreement we have to keep it tidy
since this family trashed their garden and have not been made to clean it up ,other have now done the same

The housing should get a gang together and with the tenant clean it and show them how to do it.then in return this tenants must become part of a gang who go onto others to clean up the gardens ,this way they pay back for their being clean and it will give them the know how to keep their tidy.

i have over the years helped many neighbours who were unable to do their garden for some reason.
Now these who I have helped keep theirs nice and tidy..
There are a few that whatever you do to help they will just sit and watch.
As for the neighbour who complained before anyone sings his praise ,his own garden was just as bad a few year back..

I do hope this lady will get some kind of assistance and be part of it being cleaned up.
Perhaps her father in law who had his own garden business might be able to help her here.,even if it is with advice .
