Submarine Broadcast: Electoral Roll Online Sign Up
Dear All
For the Guernsey Elections in 2012 a brand new electoral roll is being created. Effectively the roll has been zeroed, so don't assume you are 'already on it' you aren't. The Home Department has launched their Guernsey Electoral Roll website. You can sign up online on the new website at:
http://www.election2012.gg
The registration process is simple:
Click the “Register Now” button
Click the “Register Online” link
Fill in the form with your details that include your Christian and Surname, along with your address*
* There’s a postcode finder that saves you typing out your address.
Once submitted you will receive an email confirmation from the system. The system allows you to add multiple people from your household and elsewhere; so you can add elderly folk** and family members – as I did.
* For all you jokers out there, the answer is ‘yes’ they were all still alive.
Important:
It cannot be emphasised strongly enough that if you do not sign up to this Electoral Roll you will not be voting in 2012; so we respectfully request that you pass this information to friends and colleagues informing them of the online sign-up form.
Kind Regards
Neil Inder

Re: Guernsey Electoral Roll 2012 - Sign up
MORE than 400 people had signed up to the new electoral roll by 2pm yesterday.
Deputy register general of electors Paul Whitfield said the first day had gone well – despite taking the online sign-up facility offline for 16 minutes just after 3pm.
‘I gave permission for an enhancement to make sure there wasn’t any confusion over addresses for people in flats and terraces.
‘It makes sense that if we need to make an enhancement we do it.’
The Home Department is creating a new electoral roll from scratch. Anyone who wants to vote in next year’s General Election will need to sign up.
