Unemployed in Jersey stands at 1540
The number of people unemployed in Jersey stands at 1540 - the highest it has ever been.
It is up ten on the month before, 330 on a year ago, and 420 on two years ago.
Almost one in five (290) of those unemployed have been registered as being out of work for more than 52 weeks, which makes them long-term unemployed.
That is a doubling since December 2010 when only 140 people were registered as long term unemployed.
However, the number of teenagers, aged 16-19 registered as unemployed was down to 250, that is the lowest number for 18 months, with 120 of these on the Advance to Work Scheme.
The States-funded scheme aims to find work for young people struggling in the current economic climate.
