MoT-style vehicle tests likely to be introduced in Jersey
MoT-style vehicle safety tests are likely to be introduced in Jersey in the next few years.
Jersey's Transport and Technical Services Minister said the pressure to change the rules would come from outside the island.
He said although some commercial vehicles were tested, other road users in Jersey did not need a certificate proving their vehicle is roadworthy.
But Deputy Kevin Lewis said that was likely to change in the future.
He said: "A time will come when it will be expected that we would have some kind of certificate of road worthiness to take our cars off island, because you could go to the UK with a complete wreck and cause an accident."
