Hundreds of families need social housing

Hundreds of families in Jersey are in need of social housing.

That's according to the Jersey Homes Trust.

They want to develop more social rented housing in Jersey.

And believe that's exactly what the island needs.

The Trust believe the development of millions of pounds of new housing will stimulate the economy.

JHT chairman Michael Van Neste says, "We are now focused on committing to further development of social housing for rental as soon as we can achieve it."

"The aim of the Jersey Homes Trust is to provide decent homes for Jersey residents. We want to get on and continue with that work."

"With the review of social housing provision complete, it is clear from the Housing Minister’s White Paper that years of under‐investment in the maintenance of States‐owned housing will blunt the Housing Department’s ability to invest in new development."
