Guernsey Theory test price hike

The cost of taking the driving theory test in Guernsey is going up.

From next month motorbike and car theory tests will set up back £35.

It'll be £50 for a goods or passenger vehicle test.

The current fee for a theory test in any category is £30.

The Environment Department says the increase is necessary to cover the additional charges that the Department faces.

It says the increase in questions added to the tests brings them more in line with other similar licensing jurisdictions with whom they have reciprocal driving licence exchange agreements in place.

A department spokesman said: "The additional questions, particularly in the case of goods vehicle and passenger vehicle tests, has increased the duration of the tests and, therefore, costs to the Department in terms of meeting the necessary invigilation costs."
