New strategy to promote Guernsey French

The States will unveil a new strategy to promote Guernsey French-speaking later this week.

The language has seen less and less use since the occupation.

The meeting will take place at 7.00pm in the Delancey Room at Beau Sejour and is open to
all Islanders.

Deputy Darren Duquemin who is heading the initiative said: "The Department understands that Guernesiais is a subject very close to many islanders hearts. The new strategy will assist in maintaining this vital part of our rich heritage and cultural identity.

"We now have in place the means to start pushing forward with a number of new ideas, which I will be presenting on behalf of the Department on Thursday."
