Islanders encouraged to get back on their bikes
Islanders are being encouraged to get back on their bikes.
Transport and Technical Services are hoping a number of free cycling session will convince islanders leave their cars at home and opt for the greener option.
The sessions are aimed at giving cyclists more confidence on the road by passing on tips about smart ways to cycle on roads.
The three sessions, organised in conjunction with Green Travel Day on 22nd September, will be starting off from three different locations, at 10am on Saturday 10th September.
The sessions will be led by experienced cyclists who have volunteered their time.
The three meeting points are:
- Les Quennevais Sports Centre Car Park
- Les Platons Car Park
- Green Island Car Park
Constable Mike Jackson, Minister for Transport and Technical Services said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to get some really useful tips from experienced riders to help improve your cycling and confidence on a bike. The bike ride will suit the pace of the people who attend, so there is no chance of people being left behind or being pushed too hard. I’d like to thank Mike Mitchinson and his friends for his help in making this happen and I hope that there’ll be a lot of people getting back in the saddle this Saturday.”
