Jersey's constables lose power of arrest
Jersey's constables have lost their power to arrest people after a vote in the States of Jersey.
The States Assembly removed the power after approving a wide range of changes to policing in the island.
The reform was supported by most States members with 45 in favour and five voting against.
Constable of St John, Phil Rondel, disagreed with the change saying he was concerned it would erode the parish system.
Constable Rondel was the only constable to vote against the law which went through the States on Wednesday.
